Tie-Dye

I was cleaning one day and I got bleach on my hipster grey V-neck.
Sad face.
Thanks to my friend, Modern Day Martha, I decided to tie-dye it with bleach.
Waste not. Want not.
This was the outcome.
Can you believe it used to be grey?
Can you believe rubber bands and bleach will create something so beautiful?
Loves it, and hilarious that I am that into Watchmen in this photo.
Comic nerd.
This was also the day I broke the plane.
Well....just the day the battery died.
I killed it.
A master switch fiasco if you will.
*****
I learned so much that day.
Mistakes equal learning.
CFI thought it was really funny that the propeller was going and my hair was everywhere.
And.
That I was in trouble.
Practically grounded.
He kept taking photos with his phone.
Real funny guy.
I will never forget this day that is for sure.
Me and my Pops being fixer uppers.

Perks.

There was a day when my desk looked this.
Overwhelming.
(I love that calculator.)
Anyway.
It was busy.
Then my Pops said, "Do you want to go on the Piaggio around the pattern for awhile?"
I said, "Okay, but why don't you want to go?"
He responded, "I have done aerobatics above Timpangoes in a P-51. You should go."
What the?
Oh Pops, you and your never ending random (aerobatic!) stories that I have never heard.
I sure will go...in a heartbeat.
-It should also be known that when I was younger that I thought Piaggio's were awes due to scooters, because I was ska like that. Who would have known that years later that I would deal with them in aviation form.-
These three were equally as excited about the journey. Wait. Maybe more excited.
Definitely the best day of their lives.

This is what the runway/pattern looks like from above.
If I was flying I would be worried about flaps and airspeed, but we were in a jet, so who cares.
All I cared about was a sugar free Red Bull.
They are in abundance in this thing
Perfect landing coming right up.

Guess who is lucky to have a flight instructor that is this great?
Me.

Still happy/most excited.

Flashback!

Look what I found in my logbook today.
Guess what using my logbook means?
I am flying again.
I am so happy, excited, and focused.
Life is not about to get in the way this time.
Can you believe this photo is from when I first started flying a million years ago.
Okay. Okay. Not really.
It just seems that long ago.
It was really maybe only four years ago.

I just decided to mail this photo to my Grandfather.
He will love it even if I do not look the same.
We are in competition to see if I can beat his solo time.
Probably impossible, but I love convincing him it is going to happen.
He thinks it is pretty hilarious, and I love my Grandpa's laugh.
P.S. We lovingly call the plane "The Thunderbolt" at the port.

The Port

This is when the iPhone went on a helicopter ride.
iPhone's love R-22's the most

This is when I dragged one of the line guys out for a photo op.
This plane is rad.
I tried to get on board a Chinook this day too.
My bedroom eyes failed miserably.

I walked in to find this conversation happening on the ETA/ETD board.
Someone decided to name everyone a character from Snow White.
I do not know who the culprit was, but the conversation kept getting added to each day.
Even more than what is pictured below.
I work with little jokesters.

Random Career Life

Sometimes blogger underlines my words like they are a URL. I don't get it, nor do I like it.
I have had about a million random jobs in my life. No really. A million. Completely random.
It is no secret that working at the airport was one of my favorites
All time favorites.
Nothing will ever be able to top the experiences and life lessons I learned there.
Most of all I gained friends that are more like family to me.
Dear chance working at the port, I am forever indebted to you. I never thought for a second that a temporary job would turn into four years.
I am back at the airport once a week and I could not be happier.
Driving in and seeing the picture below makes me happy.
Oh, and I get to work with my Dad. Yes, I said get.
I like, wait, love my Dad.
We are so much alike and so different that it makes for the most incredible and difficult experience ever.
It also makes for some hilarious stories about our personality parallels and clashes.
Look at that. No lines. Thank you lame blogger.
When I used to manage at the airport the view of the ramp would determine the stress of my day.
A quick scan to see how many airplanes were there, the weather conditions, and possibilities of needy pilots were figured out before even entering the building.
Sounds stupid, but it was challenging.
Oh, and if you care to know....Mooney pilots are always weird. True.
Airplane types profile pilot types. It is incredible.
I love you aviation.

Rohen Visits the Airport

Rohen and Pops.
The old lightening bolt.

He loves monster truck videos.

We love coloring.
