One of these days I am going to venture into this radical place from my childhood town.
Maybe it is secretly magical inside.

Volunteer Night

Once a month I volunteer at this place.
I love it.

These nights have become something I look forward to.
So cute. So simple.
I love that I get to sit outside, listen to music (sometimes good-sometimes not my thing), and hang out with great people or read (alone time love).

This is what it looks like when my boss is bossing me around/barking orders.
Intimidating.
I was surprised at how much I liked the band on this particular night.
Candy Claws.
Check them out.
Their costumes and performance were very entertaining.

Yard Sale

This was my second yard sale of the year.
The first one I failed to take photos.
What a jerk.
I will say the first one was difficult.
Selling your hopes and dreams is a real drag, and that is probably why my camera did not make an appearance.
But.
It was a good thing and I digress.
Round two had stuff that I did not care about, aka, worthless junk.
What is the best way to start a yard sale?
Fireworks.

Hot ticket item.
"I will hold these for you for one hour only"-Moriah.
If you have a yard sale you need Moriah there.
She wheels and deals like a champ.

Someone found a lot of new hats.
A lot. A lot.
Freakishly strong.
Buds.
Salt Lake's hippest decided to make an appearance to the event.
Clearly the work of Merchandising Moriah.
Pretend married couple.
Priceless.
Some of us even scored new sunglasses and maybe even a fake couple photo.
By far the best yard sale ever.
Who knew yard sales could be so entertaining?

The Night of Tripad

Many Fridays ago I received a text from my friend that said, "Let's all do something tonight."

I responded in true emo fashion, "No, I do not feel like it. I would rather stay home and hate everything and everyone."
Practically teenage angst right there.
I finally decided it would be better to do something than stay home.
Practically conquering teenage angst.
The three of us went out.
One of them came up with the name tripad.
Like we are a gang or something.
Or.
That was just their way of trying to convince me to be the new wing person, because their other friend got married.
This night was so fun I am contemplating this tripad for life business.
I have great friends.
Token cell phone picture.

Male model.

I ran into friends from high school.
Always great to see them.

Fake anger.

Labor Day/Motel Day

Moriah had this brilliant idea to ride our bikes on state street and take photos of old motels.
Told you.....brilliant.
This is just before we submitted our resumes to the Show Club.

Serious.

We rode our bikes at least 50 (five zero!) blocks so we stopped by the farmer's house.
Correction.
Babe farmer.
Isn't she the cutest?
She knows everything about the earth, planting, and the moon.
Then she fed us.
Raw heaven right there.

Back on our bikes for night time motel-ing.

After our bike ride we took a break.
This guy showed up for exactly 17 minutes.
Just enough time for this gem of a picture to happen.

Guest blogger/incredible photos alert!

Stolen

This is when I stole MOriah's photos that she took from Labor Day/Motel Fun Day.
She is one amazing photographer and lightroom-er.
Just look at these gems.
We are all tuckered out from our day of labor.

Rad House

To quote my co-worker, "You like very strange things and you wear weird clothes."
It is true, which is why I am in love with most of these things found in one of my favorite person's house.
Exhibit A.

Exhibit B.
Exhibit C.
Exhibit D.
He painted that painting like a little genius.
Please give it to me when you are over it.
Exhibit E.

Book Club

I recently read The Game by Neil Strauss.
The book is about an underground seduction community of pick-up artists.
No, really. This exists.
The book might make you lose faith in humanity and love.
Or.
That love can exist in this crazy world.
Or.
It may give you some new tricks to become a pickup artist or defenses against them.
I think I experienced all of these things when reading this book.
I highly recommend this one. I never knew half of the information in the book even existed.
It is real life.
I have a whole new perspective on dating now.

"We have this idea that love is supposed to last forever. But love isn't like that. It's a free-flowing energy that comes and goes when it pleases. Sometimes it stays for life; other times it stays for a second, a day, a month, or a year. So don't fear love when it comes simply because it makes you vulnerable. But don't be surprised when it leaves, either. Just be glad you had the opportunity to experience it." -Neil Strauss

Family Reunion

The beginning of September brought family reunion time.
I have written about this family many times.
They are all incredible. I could not stay the entire time, but I still had a ball.
When I walked in from work one of the days Grace and I made A-LOT-A-LOT of friendship bracelets.
Today I still have four of them on my arm...the rest fell off.
Told you. A LOT.
She is so fun to hang out with.
Sometimes I forget how grown up she is.
No longer an infant (sad face).
She is spunky and smart.
Never a dull moment with this one.
Oh, and she will call you out on anything she believes needs to be brought to your attention.
I love that.

This was right about the time Cole and I decided to be friends again after he failed to make brownies while I was at work, and tried to blame the debacle on me.
Real brother sister fight broke out over the brownies.
Back to happy with coffee filter hats.

Mostly I want to own this flashlight.
Christmas is just around the corner.
Graffiti wall.
Cool parents let their kids spray paint their concrete walls.
Remember that parents.
Cannot wait for my turn to paint something spectacular on this wall.

This is when I told Cole I was going to try to fall into him, and knock him over mid-jump.
It only fourth way worked.

Everything cool is in this house.
One day I will post an entry dedicated to everything in this house.
It will blow your mind.
Then there was a talent show.
If you are wondering, my talent was to watch, praise, and clap.
I killed it.
Hip Grandpa.

Believe it.
Mad train man.
Friends forever.
We were so exhausted here.
Makes me tired just looking at this photo.
This guy played the Slavonic Dances for me.
I might have cried.
Definitely one of the best gifts I have received this year.
It was beautiful.
To think he plays these pieces like this and actually enjoys it.
I remember arguing with him about practicing the piano when he was six-ish.
Likes this.
"Pretend like it is a great honor that I am letting you borrow Watchmen to read."
I do not think my face says honor.....
After I was interviewed on camera he said,
"It is going to take a lot of editing to make you look good."
Funny.
I don't know what this is all about, but the house is still cool.
"Take a picture of me in my Corvette."
We were the bratty teens who did not want to take a family photo.
...but we obliged.
Family!

Post Script.
Mid-reunion I was invited to a party across the street.
Did I know anyone there?
Hardly.
Did I go?
Absolutely.
Alone?
Double absolutely
I made so many great friends and possible clients.
This is why I like to say yes to almost anything.
You never know what will happen.
Maybe anything.
